To prevent the introduction and spread of disease Curraghmore has a
biosecurity management programme in effect.
- Restricted herd size controls horse traffic on the farm. The exclusive few arrivals are quarantined and monitored before being introduced into the farm population.
- Curraghmore keeps a private, spacious 2 box-stall trailer available for transport. The meticulous maintenance of the trailer assures a sanitary and disease-free environment.
- Strategic vaccination is an essential component of our disease prevention.
- Fecal samples are monitored to ensure that dewormer is dispensed judiciously, which in turn helps to reduce anthelmintic resistance.
Our farm’s well-renowned veterinarian oversees all medical aspects of the herd. Curraghmore’s highly-trained and skilled farrier pays complete attention to the hoof, consequently reducing risk of damage while promoting healthy growth and development from foal to racehorse.
Horses need sunlight, fresh air and all the exercise they desire to maintain healthy bodies, strong muscles and sturdy bone structure. All this plus our unparalleled nutrition programme leads to our outstanding success of producing three times the national average of stakes winners.
