Xavier Coatrieux: Farrier
Xavier was classically trained in France where in 1998 he received the designation of Maréchal-Ferrant after passing the rigorous exams. With several relatives in the equine industry and a youth spent on his parents’ farm, it was inevitable that Coatrieux would find his niche working with horses. Following employment as a farrier for major racing stables in France and Dubai, he and his family emigrated to Canada in 2005. The much quoted saying “No Foot, No Horse” is very true. The health of the foot is vital to the soundness and functioning of the whole horse. Xavier has been our regular attending farrier since April 2006 and is a welcome addition to the Curraghmore team. Xavier is pleased to be part of Curraghmore’s vision where, by paying regular attention to the foot, he can promote strong, healthy growth and development from foal to racehorse and beyond.
In Memoriam : Murray Munroe 1945-2005
Murray is a man who will always be remembered at Curraghmore.
He was our farm farrier for 25 years until his untimely death in January 2005.
For a farm that insists on the best of everything, Murray was the perfect fit.
His kindness and patience with the horses in conjunction with his experience,
craftsmanship and talent made him a great farrier and a cherished
member of our family. He is greatly missed! |
